Reds hit-man demands safe passage from Royals replay
Fernando Torres has echoed his manager's words by claiming FA Cup glory would represent a successful season for Liverpool.
The Reds host Reading in an FA Cup replay on Wednesday night aware that the competition represents their best chance of silverware this season.
An early exit from the UEFA Champions League and faltering domestic form has seen Rafa Benitez and the club's playing staff come under criticism from the Reds faithful.
Benitez has demanded a full-blooded display to ensure progression against the Royals and Torres is in unison with his compatriot.
"I remember watching the 2006 FA Cup final when Liverpool played against West Ham. It was a great match. Pepe, Stevie and Carra have told me all about it," said Torres.
"In this country it is the most important trophy after the title. If we won it then we would play in the Community Shield.
"Winning gives you the chance to get more honours and that should always be our aim.
"Of course we want to finish in the top four too. If we could do that and win the cup, it would be the best season we've had for the last three or four years.
"I know we finished second last year, but to win something and finish in the top four would be better than that."
