Reds ace confident ahead of Europa clash
Liverpool skipper Steven Gerrard insists they will give everything to beat Atletico Madrid to reach the Europa League final.
The Reds have endured a miserable season and Gerrard is keen to reach the final in Hamburg to help make up for the disappointments of the past 12 months.
Rafa Benitez's side trail 1-0 from the first leg in Spain, but Gerrard is confident they can overturn the deficit at Anfield on Thursday.
Positive
"We need to be positive from the start of the game and get the fans behind us and believe that we can achieve the victory," Gerrard told the club's official website.
"We've done it before so we are going to give it everything we have got on Thursday night.
"The players are positive about Thursday night, I can guarantee that. We are up for it and we need to give every bit of sweat and blood out on that pitch.
"Let's hope we can win it with two goals but if they score we have to get a third. We have to adapt during the game and do whatever it takes to win.
"There's been many occasions where we have had our backs to the wall and people have doubted us, but as players we never doubt ourselves."
Gerrard added: "We go into every game believing we can win it and do everything that's possible on the night. Thursday can't come quick enough. We can't wait for it."
Rush return
Meanwhile Liverpool's record goalscorer Ian Rush has rejoined the club as their official soccer schools ambassador.
Rush, who struck 346 times in 660 matches for the Reds, will also work with the commercial team to develop partnerships with other global sponsors and brands.
"I'm thrilled to be involved with the club again and hope the contacts I have in the football and coaching community will allow us to move forward quickly," said Rush, a Uefa Pro licence holder.
Liverpool's commercial director Ian Ayre added: "Rushie is one of the best-known names in world football and I'm delighted he has agreed to work with us."
