Midfielder keen to get going at Anfield

New Liverpool signing Christian Poulsen admits he has a lot to prove after securing his switch from Juventus. The 30-year-old Denmark international has moved to Anfield for an initial fee of £4.5million, with another £1.5m payable to the Italian club on certain conditions. Poulsen is a vastly experienced midfielder, having featured in the German Bundesliga, the Spanish Primera Division and Serie A. However, he still feels he must start over at his new club, and is eager to get going with the new season just around the corner. "With this move here I have a lot to prove," said Poulsen, who has penned a three-year contract. "If you come to a club like Liverpool, you have to deliver. I will hopefully show I can be a good player for Liverpool." On his current fitness levels, the Dane added: "I started a little bit later because of the World Cup but I've done pre-season with Juventus. "I didn't play the last matches in the Europa League because of the move to this club. "I am feeling fit but of course it's a decision for the manager and the staff." Poulsen has already played under Reds boss Roy Hodgson, and the pair achieved success with Copenhagen in the Danish Superliga. The combative midfielder hopes for similar achievements in the Premier League, and is delighted to be reunited with his former manager. "I had two good years with him so I hope to carry that on, and hopefully he'll be satisfied with my qualities," he remarked. "He's a manager who's been all over the world and has a lot of experience, so of course I have a lot of respect for him. "Roy didn't have to say that much because Liverpool is known all around the world, and for people in Denmark, Liverpool are the biggest club in England."
