Slovakia international admits pre-season has been tough
Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has revealed he is looking forward to the friendly against Toronto after enjoying his summer break.
The Reds are currently on their pre-season tour and will play in Canada on Saturday as they prepare for the new campaign.
Brendan Rodgers has been trying to implement his new ideas onto the playing staff and the Slovakia international admits it is now time to get to work.
Training
"I think everybody is looking forward to this game because it is the first game of the season, and the first after more than two weeks of training," he told the club's
official website.
"We're excited about the game and we'll definitely enjoy it. The first week of pre-season is always hard because everything is about the physical work - and I don't know any player who likes it!
"But we all know we need it for the season ahead. Now we've got our first game and we need to show that we've got both, both physically and in terms of football.
"I feel ready and I'm looking forward to the game."
