Sky Bet slash odds on Luis Suarez to join Barcelona to 2/7 as summer move edges closer

Sky Bet have slashed the odds on Luis Suarez joining Barcelona this summer to 2/7 following reports the Catalan club are set to hold talks with Liverpool over a proposed move.
On Tuesday, Barcelona sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta praised Suarez for his apology to Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini for the biting incident which saw the Uruguayan receive a four-month global ban by FIFA.
That appeared to spark a flurry of bets on Suarez to move to the La Liga giants before the summer transfer window closes, amid suggestions Barcelona had an influence on the decision to publicly apologise.
The sustained interest repeatedly forced his price to shorten over the subsequent 24 hours and has caused previous suitors Real Madrid and Arsenal to drift out to 18/1 and 50/1 respectively.
And Wednesday’s reports claiming Liverpool’s managing director Ian Ayre will meet with Barcelona representatives in London saw the odds cut once more to its current price of 2/7.
Sky Bet’s head of football trading Paul Wiggins said: “It’s looking increasingly likely that Liverpool are ready to sell their troubled star so we go 11/4 on him to still be at Anfield by the end of the transfer window.
“Meanwhile, Hajvalia’s ambitious effort to loan Suarez has proved popular with punters due to the huge initial odds of 100/1, so we’ve trimmed their chances to 80/1 - but that move still looks very unlikely to happen.”
