Liverpool midfielder Joe Allen will miss Wales' European Qualifiers against Cyprus and Israel because of a hamstring injury.

Allen was the biggest name missing from Chris Coleman's squad, when the Wales manager confirmed his 23 for the trip to Nicosia on September 3 and the visit of Israel to the Cardiff City Stadium three days later.

He would have been suspended from the first game anyway, but his injury means no chance of being 100 per cent in time for the Israel clash.
