Mathieu Debuchy has joined Bordeaux on loan for the remainder of the season.
The Arsenal right-back is desperate for first-team football to stake his claim for a place in France's Euro 2016 squad and initially wanted to remain in the Premier League.
But Bordeaux made a late move, and the deal was done with the Ligue 1 club before the transfer window closed.
Debuchy, 30, joined Arsenal in a £12m move from Newcastle in the summer of 2014, but his first season was interrupted by two serious injuries and he has since struggled to be selected ahead of Hector Bellerin.
Arsenal said on their official website: "Everyone at Arsenal wishes Mathieu well for his time with the Girondins."
Debuchy, who spent 10 years and played 301 games at Lille, was part of the Euro 2012 and World Cup 2014 squads for France, for whom he last played in September 2015 in a 2-1 win over Serbia, at Bordeaux's brand new stadium, built for Euro 2016.
"It's hard to imagine it. Bordeaux signing a France international from the Premier League," Bordeaux president Jean-louis Triaud said after the signing.
Debuchy will wear shirt No 24 for Les Girondins.
