Shkodran Mustafi insists that Arsenal will battle until the "last second" in their hunt for the Premier League title this season.

The Gunners beat Burnley 2-1 on Sunday in a dramatic match, with Mustafi scoring his first Premier League goal and a last-gasp Panenka penalty from Alexis Sanchez securing the points.

Despite Chelsea being eight points clear at the summit, Mustafi, a summer arrival from Valencia, is confident that the club has the momentum to challenge and will fight for the title.

The German international defender said: "Yes, as Arsenal you want to go for it and you look in the eyes and see that no-one gives up until the last second and it shows how much belief we have in ourselves and that we are going to go for it.

"It [the win] is important for us even if you don't look at the other results. Playing at home to Burnley, you want to take the three points and if you want to stay up there it is something you have to do and that is what we did.

Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger did not share the player's coolness after he flew into a temper when referee Jon Moss awarded the visitors penalty, scored by Andre Gray.

Later apologising for pushing fourth official Anthony Taylor, the Gunners boss was sent to the stands for arguing on the touchline missing Moss level up the penalty count for Ben Mee's foul on Laurent Koscielny.

Wenger's team have taken 10 points by scoring goals in the last four minutes of six league matches this season and without such last-gasp heroics would be flagging at seventh place.

Mustafi said: "Since I have joined this club, we have scored in the last second in a few games, a few times we have come back and a few times we scored the winner in the last second.

"I have had a few games now with this club like this and I am enjoying it. It is nicer to win in the last second than lose."
