Arsenal's Francis Coquelin to be sidelined by hamstring injury

Francis Coquelin picked up the injury against Chelsea

Arsenal will be without Francis Coquelin next week after the midfielder limped off during Saturday's 3-0 win over Bournemouth.

The 26-year-old Frenchman came on with just over 20 minutes left at the Emirates but picked up an injury and had to be taken off less than 15 minutes later.

The Gunners had already used three substitutes but their 10 men were able to see out the match.

However, Arsenal have a busy week ahead, featuring games against Cologne and Chelsea, and are likely to be without Coquelin.

Manager Arsene Wenger said: "He has a hamstring (issue).

"I don't know how bad it is but he's certainly out for next week's game."

There is better news for Arsenal fans regarding Jack Wishere, who could soon be back in action.

Arsene Wenger says that he couldn't single out a bad performance from his Arsenal players following their 3-0 win over Bournemouth.

"The fact that Francis is now out gives him a chance as well."

Wilshere might even feature in Thursday night's Europa League opener.

"I don't know yet," said Wenger. "He's not far from that."
