Carini quits Juve for Standard
The custodian looked set to be an Arsenal player, but his proposed move fell through when The Gunners revealed they could not agree terms over his transfer from the Stadio Delle Alpi.
Although a financial wrangle was put forward as the reason behind the collapse of his proposed move to Highbury, Carini always had doubts over his chances of securing regular football.
After warming the bench at Juve for two years, Carini was desperate to find first-team football and was not sure he would get that at Arsenal.
At the time of the deal being announced by Arsenal, there was some confusion as Carini told the Italian media: "If I leave Juventus, it is in order to play and be in the team.
"At Arsenal, there is David Seaman, therefore I prefer to remain here where I repeat I am very well and have a magnificent relationship with my team-mates."
Standard stepped in and struck a é¼6.5 million deal with Juve.
The Uruguayan signed a three-year deal, and will be the undoubted number one at Standard.
The capture of the Uruguayan international is a notable one for Standard, and will boost the profile of football in the Jupiler League.
