Freddie gets to root of knee woe
Freddie Ljungberg has had his wisdom teeth removed in a bid to help his bad knee.
Arsenal midfielder Freddie Ljungberg has had his wisdom teeth removed in a curious bid to help him recover from a knee injury. The Swedish international has been struggling for fitness this season, and was willing to resort to desperate measures to get back to his best.
"I had all four out on the advice of a specialist," he revealed.
"It sounds odd but they told me that the wisdom teeth could have an effect on my knee muscle.
"They explained that people with heart problems had been helped by having their wisdom teeth out. The heart is a muscle as well, so I thought 'why not?'
"It wasn't a nice operation though. It took them over an hour to remove them."
Ljungberg, who was recently sidelined for three weeks with the knee problem, is tentatively feeling his way back to regular football. He made an appearance as a substitute in Arsenal's victory over Blackburn on Saturday, and was pleased with how he came through it.
"It's a bit stiff, but it still felt okay when i came on," he said.
