Rijkaard hits out over Henry
Frank Rijkaard seems to blame Txiki Beguiristain for missing out on Thierry Henry.
Frank Rijkaard claims that Barcelona's director of sport Txiki Beguiristain must explain the club's failure to land Thierry Henry. After months of speculation the mercurial Frenchman finally decided to commit his future to Arsenal on Friday by signing a new four-year contract.
For a long time it had seemed that Barca were closing on Henry and were likely to lure him to Camp Nou this summer.
It appears the Catalans were confident of getting their man and have been left rather shocked by his decision to snub their overtures.
Rijkaard undoubtedly wanted the former Juventus star in his ranks and, having missed out on the 28-year-old, has pointed the finger at Beguiristain.
"It's certain he (Henry) was interested in participating in this project and he told a lot of people that," stated the Dutch coach.
"When something like this happens it is Txiki who must respond, I can only talk about people who are already in the dressing room.
"After Txiki has spoken perhaps I will be able to add something more."
