Frenchman admits this season is 'pivotal'
Arsene Wenger has admitted that the 2007/2008 season is make or break for his Arsenal side.
There has been much talk of a 'transitional period' for Wenger's youngsters over the past few campaigns.
And the French tactician admits that after years of hard work, now is the time for his players to deliver.
Following Thierry Henry's departure in the summer, critics were quick to write off The Gunners' title ambitions.
But Arsenal have begun the season in impressive fashion and sit top of the Premier League by two points.
Pivotal
Wenger explained that this season is 'pivotal' for the future of the club, and he is determined to lead his side to glory.
"The real threat for us this season is the fact it could be a pivotal one for the life of the club," he told L'Equipe.
"If the team doesn't click, then we won't go anywhere because no matter what kind of money we have in the bank, if we don't go out and do well against our big rivals then we will have built this team for nothing.
"If the team isn't competitive this season it will be hard to follow up."
Speaking of Arsenal's renowned style of football, Wenger explained that he draws much satisfaction from putting on a spectacle for the Gunners supporters.
Quality and satisfaction
"The ultimate satisfaction is to win a match and to be able to say that your supporters were transported somewhere beautiful for an hour and a half," he added.
"When top level sport is performed well, that's the power it has. And you can't fool people when it comes to the quality of a product.
"Personally, I don't want to sit on the sidelines waiting for the end of the match and happy that we're leading 1-0.
"And it's no coincidence. They're talented players and they want to play entertaining, winning football."
