Villarreal ace feels Arsenal striker not the finished article
Villarreal's Brazilian-born Spain international midfielder Marcos Senna has hit out at Emmanuel Adebayor ahead of their second leg clash with Arsenal.
Although Adebayor netted a superb equaliser in Arsenal's 1-1 at Estadio El Madrigal in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first leg last week, his display failed to win over Senna.
Senna, who helped Spain win the Euro 2008 last summer, believes the Togo ace still has a long way to go if he is to emulate Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.
"Adebayor didn't impress me. At my age, and with everything I have seen in football, it is difficult to find a player who impresses me," he explained.
"Adebayor is a good player, but you cannot say he is a superstar yet. He still has a long way to go before he reaches what Henry did for Arsenal."
One better
After drawing their home leg to Arsene Wenger's side, Villarreal know they must score if they are to have any chance of progressing, although Senna believes they can beat the Gunners.
Three years ago Kolo Toure's goal saw Arsenal progress in the competition at Villarreal's expense, but Senna, who will miss the match through injury, believes the Yellow Submarine have improved in the interim.
"We are capable of winning in London and going through," he continued. "We are certainly stronger than we were three years ago.
"We have a far more complete group of players now than we had back then. We have real depth to our squad.
"It is everything or nothing. It is do or die. And we know we are good enough to win."
