Gunners boss expects skipper to brush off Barca link

Arsene Wenger has rubbished fresh reports linking Cesc Fabregas with a summer switch to Barcelona. The Catalan giants are long-term admirers of the Arsenal midfielder, keen to take the 22-year-old back to his homeland. Fabregas was nurtured in the famed Camp Nou academy ranks as a youngster, before opting to join Arsenal in 2003. He has flourished during his time in England, establishing himself as one of Europe's most potent creative talents. Unsurprisingly, he has been regularly linked with a move away from Emirates Stadium over the years, with Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid leading the chase. Fabregas has openly admitted that he would welcome the opportunity to return to Camp Nou at some stage in the future, but has always insisted that he is happy to remain at Arsenal for now.

No concern

That, though, has done little to curb speculation surrounding his future, with reports in Spain suggesting he has verbally agreed to join Barcelona at the end of the season. Wenger remains adamant that is not the case, claiming he has no intention of letting his skipper leave, but the Frenchman admits there is no telling what the future will hold. "There is no concern at all," he said. "What is more of a concern is that we try everything to win something. "He is committed when he plays, what's the future? We don't know what will happen in six months, in two years, in five years."
