Ranieri reveals admiration for Arsenal defender
Claudio Ranieri has admitted he would love William Gallas to come and play for him again at Roma.
Ranieri brought Gallas to the Premier League during his time in charge at Chelsea and has followed his career with interest.
The French defender enjoyed success at Stamford Bridge before moving to Arsenal in 2006 as part of the deal that took Ashley Cole the opposite way.
The 32 year-old has gone through some difficult times with the Gunners, being stripped of the captaincy in November 2008, but remains an important member of the team.
However, he will be out of contract at the end of the season and Arsenal have the policy of offering only a one-year extension to players over 30 years of age.
Reports suggest Roma are monitoring the situation, with officials from the Serie A club already holding talks with the player's advisor Pierre Frelot
And Ranieri has made it clear that a player of Gallas' quality would fit in well at Roma.
"Gallas is a player who has achieved so much in his career," said the manager.
"I signed him when I was in charge at Chelsea and he has done well both for them and Arsenal.
"He is a top-level player and all top players are welcome at Roma."
