Arsenal midfielder Fran Merida is reportedly poised to depart the Emirates for Atletico Madrid next week.
The 20-year-old is understood to be ready to pen a five-year contract with the Primera Liga outfit after turning down a late offer from the Gunners.
Merida, a Spain Under 21 international, joined the London club from Barcelona in 2006, but has yet to make his full league debut and was signed on loan by Spanish side Real Sociedad in 2008.
The young midfielder's agent, Joseba Diaz, insists that money is not a motivating factor behind any move.
Diaz told
The Sun: "Fran's decision is based purely on sporting questions and not money."
