Lionel Messi admits he can shed no light on whether Cesc Fabregas will end up playing alongside him at Barcelona.
Sky Sports News caught up with the Argentine superstar as he waited to board his plane back to Barcelona, after spending Wednesday in London as part of adidas' 'Catch him if you can' promotional campaign.
After a busy day in the capital Messi conceded he was at a loss as to what the future holds for Fabregas, with his club side Barca having again been thwarted in the summer in what is becoming an annual attempt to try and sign the schemer who left them as a teenager.
Messi, who starred in Barcelona's 5-1 defeat of Panathinaikos on Tuesday, was remaining tight-lipped on his club's pursuit of the brilliant Spaniard.
"I don't know. Every year it looks as though he will go to Barcelona but for the moment he stays at Arsenal," he told
Sky Sports News.
When quizzed on whether he would one day ply his trade in the English Premier League he was equally evasive.
Contracted to the Camp Nou outfit until 2016 it seems all but impossible Barcelona could be tempted into a sale but Messi was willing to concede that in football the old adage 'never say never' can ring true.
"I am enjoying my moment in Barcelona and think I will play my whole career there but in football you can never tell," he added, via an interpreter.
