Gunners goalkeeper keen to continue recovery in homeland
Manuel Almunia's agent has confirmed the Arsenal goalkeeper is looking to head back to Spain.
The 33-year-old has lost his No.1 spot to Lukasz Fabianski after damaging his elbow when saving a penalty in the home defeat to West Brom in September.
He played for 45 minutes in a reserve clash last month, however, he claimed his elbow is still troubling him and now wants to go to his homeland to continue his rehabilitation.
Almunia has been linked with an exit from Arsenal in the New Year with Malaga said to be interested, although Atletico Madrid and Osasuna are no longer in the race.
Almunia's agent Joseba Diaz insists discussions are ongoing with the Emirates Stadium club.
"We have not finished negotiations, but it is clear that Manuel wants to return to Spain," Diaz told the
Daily Mirror.
