Influential leader shakes off knee injury

Barcelona captain Carles Puyol has returned to training with the hope of facing Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. The 32-year-old has been missing in action for the Catalan giants for the last nine games after struggling with tendonitis in his knee. Puyol missed the 2-1 defeat at the Emirates in February, yet his recovery is all the more important as fellow defender Gerard Pique is suspended for the return leg. Pique admitted he was upset to miss the vital last 16 clash, but is hopeful Puyol will be available to take his place. "I am totally gutted to miss it, but I'm an optimist and I think Carles will be ready - he still has a few days ahead to get fit," he said. "If I had to bet, I would bet that he would be ready for the game against Arsenal."
