Arsenal midfielder feels Spurs striker will up his game on Sunday

Arsenal midfielder Alex Song is adamant that Tottenham's Emmanuel Adebayor will be keen to impress against his former club this weekend. The North London rivals meet at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon as the Gunners look to build on last weekend's win over Bolton. Spurs are aiming to make it four wins in a row after a run in which Adebayor has been integral to their success. The 27-year-old Togolese striker has scored three goals in his first three Tottenham games and will meet Arsenal for the first time as a Lilywhite. He played against the Gunners as a Manchester City player and received a two-match suspended ban for a provocative celebration when he scored against Arsene Wenger's side in 2009. Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has ruled William Gallas, another former Gunner, out of the clash but Adebayor is set to start. Song joined Arsenal in the same year as Adebayor and retains a lot of respect for his former team-mate.

Happy for him

He told Arsenal Player: "I know in the big games he will want to show he is not 'dead'. "Everyone put him down when he went to Manchester City but I am very happy for him. "We know Adebayor is a very good player and I am very happy for him now. He is my friend and has started playing well for Tottenham. "But I just want us to go there, try to play and win. He may be my friend but on the pitch it is different - I just have to do my job." Arsenal go into the game on the back of a 2-1 UEFA Champions League win over Olympiakos on Wednesday night and Song is desperate to build some momentum.
Opportunity
He said: "I think we have a good opportunity to show we can do something in the league this year. "That is why we are motivated to go there and get something positive. "We all have trust in the manager and we now need to go and show the people that they are wrong. The last two games we have done something good."
