Gunners stopper has no regrets over Arsenal switch

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker admits playing in England is harder than in Germany, but that he is enjoying life at the Emirates. The Germany international, who joined Arsenal from Werder Bremen on transfer deadline day in August, admits it has taken time to adapt to life in the Premier League. The 27-year-old is used to a winter break in Germany and he concedes it was hard coping with the busy schedule, but he has no regrets for swapping the Bundesliga for England's top flight.

New life

"It was my choice to go to the English league and have no winter break, no breather at the end of the year," Mertesacker told a webchat with Chinese fans. "Normally in Germany you have a chance to calm down at the end of the year, maybe go on holiday. "[Having no winter break] was very hard. We had a great time with the family here in London, but you have to deal with the situation. "It is harder, but I really like it here. This is my new life: you get used to everything."
