Spain star content to stay despite reported interest from Arsenal

Atletico Madrid forward Adrian has stated his intention to stay at the club, with Arsenal reported to be monitoring his situation as he stalls over a new deal. The 24-year-old forward enjoyed an impressive first season at the Vicente Calderon after signing from Deportivo La Coruna last summer. He played an important role in Atletico's Europa League triumph and won his first caps for Spain last month, scoring on his debut against Serbia. His rise to prominence has sparked interest in the player but Adrian has stressed he is happy in Madrid. "I am content at Atletico," he told Marca.

Happy

"We have won a trophy and that for me is very important in my first season. I am happy. "I have signed a deal for three seasons and my idea is to stay." While Adrian may be happy to see out his current deal, he is believed to be reluctant to sign a new contract with the club. Atletico are wary of the release clause in the former Oviedo man's contract that could see Arsenal acquire their man for around £14.5million. Interest in Adrian could increase next month when the player, who scored 11 goals in Atletico's European campaign last term, is in London to compete in the Olympics for Spain.
