Arsenal captain Mikel Arteta has signed a one-year extension to his Arsenal contract, according to Sky sources.
The midfielder was in the final few months of his previous deal and is out until April after surgery to repair a damaged ankle.
Arteta will be 33 by the time he returns, but that has not stopped Arsenal pressing ahead with plans to give their skipper a further 12 months.
Arsene Wenger signed Arteta from Everton on deadline day in September 2011, and the Spaniard has gone on to make more than 100 Premier League appearances for the club.
