James McFadden's agent has played down reports linking the player with a move to Celtic

Scots star in line for new deal

James McFadden's agent has played down reports linking the player with a move to Celtic, claiming Everton are preparing a new deal for the forward. Reports have suggested Celtic are eyeing a move for the Scotland star when the transfer window reopens in January. Celtic have held a long-term interest in McFadden and are thought to have considered a move for the skilful attacker before he moved to Everton from Motherwell. McFadden has struggled to hold down a regular place in the Everton side despite his heroics with Scotland, fuelling rumours of a possible move away in search of regular first-team action. The 24-year-old's agent, Willie McKay, says Everton are keen to keep McFadden and are lining up a new deal for the player. "James is under contract at Everton and he is only thinking of Everton," McKay told skysports.com "I believe David Moyes is ready to offer him a new contract to keep him at Goodison Park."
