Defender to skipper on record appearance

Everton defender Tony Hibbert will captain the Toffees for their Europa League clash with BATE Borisov on Thursday. The 28-year-old will be wearing the skipper's armband as he makes his club-record 20th European appearance at Goodison Park Everton welcome the Belarusian side to Liverpool having already qualified for the last 32 of the competition. "Tony will captain the side," said Toffees manager David Moyes. "The reason he has got those figures is the competition has changed. We have group stages now. "These tournaments are organised in a different way. But it is still a terrific honour. "His name will be at the top of that list when people talk about games in Europe. Hopefully there will be many more games to come from him."
