Everton and Rovers eye Scottish ace

Skysports.com understands Everton and Blackburn are weighing up moves for former Birmingham forward James McFadden. McFadden is available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at St Andrews earlier this summer. A number of clubs are thought to be interested in signing the Scotland international and Everton and Blackburn have been alerted to his availability on a free transfer. With funds reported to be tight at both Goodison Park and Ewood Park, McFadden has emerged on the radar. McFadden enjoyed five seasons at Everton before he left for Birmingham in January 2008 and a return to Merseyside could be a big attraction for the player. Blackburn boss Steve Kean is thought to be a big admirer of his fellow Scot and he is actively looking for attacking reinforcements, with Nikola Kalinic and El Hadji Diouf expected to move on this summer.
