James McCarthy says Everton can end Manchester City's winning start

Midfielder James McCarthy says Everton can end Manchester City's impressive start to the new campaign.

The Toffees head into the game on the back of a 3-0 victory away to Southampton and McCarthy says if they can take that form into Sunday's game, City will have a tough afternoon.

McCarthy told the club website: "It's always a tough place to come, Goodison Park, and as long as the fans are behind us again this week, it will make things difficult for Man City.

"The fans are always massive for us. They travelled down in their numbers to Southampton and you could hear them from the first to the last minute".

However, the former Wigan midfielder is wary of just what his side are up against this weekend.

"You saw how Man City played against Chelsea and it's going to be tough," McCarthy added.

"They have won two games on the bounce but the mood in our camp is very good and we go into the game really confident".
