On-loan Newcastle man Sammy Ameobi wrapped up the points for Bolton with a stunning strike against Gillingham.
Bolton moved into the automatic promotion places in Sky Bet League One with an impressive 4-0 win at the Macron Stadium with Ameobi scoring the goal of the night.
Picking the ball up on the right flank, he dribbled into a dangerous area before unleashing an unstoppable effort into the top corner which Gillingham goalkeeper Stuart Nelsen couldn't get anywhere near
Two goals from Gary Madine either side of a Josh Vela strike had already set Phil Parkinson's side on their way to a ninth win in 10 league games.
The victory moves Bolton into second place in League One but co-owner Ken Anderson has warned that the club could face administration if Anderson doesn't reach an agreement with his fellow co-owner Dean Holdsworth in the near future.
