Bolton lost 2-0 at Bristol City on Tuesday night.

Wanderers were promoted in the summer after finishing second in League One in their first season under Parkinson.

He had moved to the Macron Stadium in June 2016 after a compensation package was agreed with his former club Bradford City. The 49-year-old joined on a two-year contract.

Parkinson could not sign the players he wanted this summer because of a transfer ban.

However, the embargo was lifted earlier this month by the English Football League which allowed the club to complete the registration of several players who have been training with the club.

The Trotters will be allowed to register free agents and loan signings outside of the transfer window, but will have to wait until January before they can pay a fee for a player.

Anderson said: "It is important that we all remain together and continue the fantastic support of your club as I know that the tide will turn in our favour.

"There is still plenty of football to be played between now and next May and your continued support is crucial as we look to build on our improvement in form.

"As has been said elsewhere, we are in a mini-league and our goal is to come out on top of that league and I have every confidence in this squad of players and management to ensure we achieve that."
