Trotters boss looking to add to his depleted squad in January
Bolton manager Gary Megson has admitted that he is down to the bare bones, making it inevitable that he will add to his squad in January.
Megson will be without suspended duo Gretar Steinsson and captain Kevin Nolan for the trip to Arsenal on Saturday as Bolton look to bounce back from their FA Cup exit at the hands of Sunderland.
Defender Gary Cahill is likely to miss out again after being absent from the club's last two games with a hip injury, but midfielder Gavin McCann returns from his ban.
The former West Brom and Leicester boss knows the importance of adding to his squad in the transfer window as the Trotters look to distance themselves from the drop zone.
"It is difficult having plans because it changes from day to day," Megson explained.
"Sometimes you have an idea of doing something and the team that has that player doesn't want to do it.

"Things change quickly but when that opportunity comes to do something that you think will strengthen your football club I'm pleased to say we are all singing from the same hymn sheet that we want to do that."
Megson will also be without skipper Nolan for the visit of Manchester United as his side look to end a run of three successive Premier League defeats.
After picking up his 10th yellow card of the season in Saturday's 2-1 third round defeat to Sunderland, the midfielder feels he has sometimes been hard done to by referees.
"I haven't had time to let it sink in, but I know I'm going to be killing myself about it," he said.
"I can't believe that I have got 10 cards this season, a lot of them have been harsh. I'm going to miss out on two massive games, but hopefully the boys can do the business."
