Bolton hoping to land striker

Bolton are understood to be leading the chase for Ecuador striker Jaime Ayovi. The 22-year-old forward is one of the hottest prospects in South America after finishing as top-scorer in the Ecuadorian league. Ayovi fired 22 goals for Emelec and he is now being tracked by a host of clubs. Mexican side Toluca had hoped to strike a deal for his services, but the player is believed to have expressed his desire to move to Europe. Partizan Belgrade and Gaziantepspor have both stepped up their interest, but it appears Bolton are ahead of them in the chase. It is believed Trotters chief Owen Coyle is ready to bring Ayovi to England early in the New Year, when he hopes to finalise a deal for his signature. Coyle has good contacts in Ecuador, having previously used them to take Fernando Guerrero to Burnley during his time at Turf Moor.
