Bolton boss disappointed with Scholes goal at Old Trafford
Owen Coyle thought Bolton shot themselves in the foot in the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday.
The Trotters were on the verge of going in level at the break at Old Trafford but the returning Paul Scholes turned home a Wayne Rooney cross-shot on the stroke of half time.
Second half goals from Danny Welbeck and Michael Carrick then condemned Bolton to defeat but Coyle also saw reasons to be positive.
The Bolton boss told
Sky Sports News: "We looked as if we'd get in at half time at 0-0 and we've shot ourselves in the foot with a soft goal so that was a disappointment.
Courage
"But I thought the courage and performance which we showed in the second half in terms of taking the game to Manchester United showed that we have the belief that we can win games."
The Trotters now face three home games against Macclesfield in the FA Cup followed by league encounters with Liverpool and Arsenal.
Coyle added: "Our away form in terms of the points that we have picked up has been fine.
"What we want to do now is show the form that we had (at the Reebok) last year, make it a fortress and if we play to the levels that we have recently we know we can win these games."
