Wanderers boss hoping to win cup tie in order to help momentum

Owen Coyle insists Bolton can turn their fortunes around and stay in the Premier League, despite a recent slump in form. The Trotters are currently sitting second-bottom of the table following back-to-back defeats against Norwich and fellow strugglers Wigan. But Coyle believes his side must keep a level head from now on as they look to record their first victory in four matches when they travel to Championship side Millwall in the FA Cup fifth-round on Saturday. The Scot said: "You will have people who want to be pessimistic, but so be it - that is how a lot of people are. "Of course, it is disappointing and hurtful when you lose games or when you don't perform to the level you are capable of, but the bottom line is it happens, you can't affect it and it is behind us. "We are a point from safety in the league, we are in the last 16 in the cup and now, we will look to go and win this cup tie to give us the momentum to move forward. "We always remain true in our belief that we will remain in the Premier League - if people want to make more of it than what is there, it is up to them."

Balanced

Coyle is keen to keep things in perspective and not let any sense of gloom around the Reebok Stadium extend to his players. "What we have always done is remain balanced," he said. "When we beat Liverpool, we didn't think we were Barcelona and equally, because we have lost the game last week, we are not going to think we are a poor side. "We had a bad day at the office, but we have to pick ourselves up, ready to go again, and the FA Cup tie at Millwall gives us a chance to do that and show our quality."
