Goalkeeper offered contract after performing well on trial

Sky Sports understands that Reading are to offer Stuart Taylor a contract after he impressed on trial. Taylor was invited to train with the Royals during pre-season after becoming a free agent at the end of last term. He has performed well and it is thought that he will now have the opportunity to sign a deal with the newly-promoted Premier League club. Brian McDermott has been trying to strengthen all areas of his squad this summer and if Taylor accepts Reading's offer he will provide another goalkeeping option. Taylor started his career with Arsenal before moving to Aston Villa in 2005 and then Manchester City three years later. He did not feature in Roberto Mancini's first-team plans, though, and was released last month.
