Villa clinch Crouch signing
PORTSMOUTH striker Peter Crouch has completed his £6 million move to Aston Villa after agreeing personal terms at Villa Park.
The midlands club have paid £5 million to Pompey for the England under-21 international with the total fee worth £6 million including sell-on clauses.
Crouch was disappointed he could not play for the South Coast club in The Premiership, but thanked the club for all their help saying, "I have really enjoyed playing for the club and the tremendous fans."
Manager Harry Redknapp has defended the sale of one of the clubs' brightest prospects to ease the current financial trouble at the club.
"The money we will get will help us find the five or six players we need to seriously challenge for promotion next season."
