South African expected to miss trip to Selhurst Park

Portsmouth have confirmed that midfielder Aaron Mokoena did not suffer a broken leg against Ipswich on Saturday. The news comes as a welcome boost for manager Steve Cotterill, whose side remain rooted to the bottom of the Championship. The South Africa international, who had been the subject of much transfer speculation over the summer, was stretchered off during the goalless draw and taken to hospital. Scans have shown that the 29-year-old has escaped serious injury, although the manager has confirmed that he is expected to miss Pompey's trip to Crystal Palace on Tuesday. Cotterill said: "It's a big relief that Aaron's okay. He had a scan and has taken a bad whack on it but there's no break. "It's been hard enough to get the sort of squad we have together without losing anyone to serious injury. "It looks doubtful that Aaron will be available for Tuesday night's game at Crystal Palace, but you never know."
