Portsmouth boss has not considered move for Burnley striker

Portsmouth manager Michael Appleton has played down speculation that he is planning a bid to sign Burnley striker Danny Ings on loan. Ings joined the Clarets from Bournemouth back in August, but suffered a serious knee injury in training before he had made his debut for the club. The 19-year-old returned to action last month and has now made five appearances for Burnley, which included a first start against Crystal Palace. However, reports have claimed that the promising forward could return to the South Coast to help Pompey's battle to avoid relegation from the Championship. Appleton is keen to improve his embattled squad before the loan deadline later this month, but says he has not considered a possible move for Ings. "That is the first I have heard of that," said Appleton in The News. "I have no idea where that has come from. It is certainly nothing to do with me. "The lad is a decent player, but not one who has come up in the conversations I've had."
