Michel Vorm will play in goal against Liverpool in the EFL Cup on Tuesday while winger Georges-Kevin N'Koudou could also earn his first Tottenham start, according to boss Mauricio Pochettino.

Pochettino has admitted the need to rotate ahead of a glut of fixtures, including Premier League clashes with champions Leicester and arch-rivals Arsenal and a crucial Champions League group game against Bayer Leverkusen in between.

Spurs will be without the injured Toby Alderweireld and Harry Kane for the trip to Anfield, which is live on Sky Sports 1HD, as well as Moussa Sissoko after he and the club accepted an FA charge of violent conduct on Monday.

"It's difficult now because Sissoko was in our plans to play, and we don't have Toby or Harry," Pochettino said.

"It's true that tomorrow we will play Michel Vorm. I can confirm that. Hugo Lloris is one of the best but he is not a machine. Michel is a very good keeper, as is Pau Lopez and the younger two as well.

"Maybe [N'Koudou will start too]. I am thinking that maybe I will give him the opportunity to start the game.

"We have players who need some rest because they have played a lot. We also have some players that are not at a good level, with colds and things like that.

"But we have a strong squad and we need to go there with the mentality to win the game. It is a great opportunity to show the depth in our squad."

Alderweireld injured his knee in the draw at West Brom on October 15 and missed the draws with Leverkusen in the Champions League and Bournemouth in the Premier League, but he could return before Saturday.

"We will see this week," Pochettino added. "Tomorrow he is still out. Maybe he will be available for Leicester, Leverkusen or Arsenal. He is improving a lot but it is difficult to know.

"It is a relief (that it's not as bad as first feared). Then we have the international break so after two weeks training he will be available."
