Ben Davies hopes Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Harry Winks will give Tottenham the edge in this weekend’s north London derby against Arsenal.

The England trio sat out friendlies against Germany and Brazil during the international break. Kane and Alli had hamstring injuries, while Winks missed the goalless draws with an ankle problem.

But they are all expected to be fit for Tottenham's Premier League trip to Arsenal, live on Sky Sports on Saturday lunchtime.

"The boys have had a few niggles here and there," Davies said. "Sometimes these friendlies can be one game too much with the programme coming up.

"If it means they are fresh for us on the weekend then we can be happy for that."

"City are a top side and have set the benchmark this year," Davies said.

"Now we have to be on top and clinical in every game. We have to try and keep picking up the points to catch them."

Davies will not be at the 2018 World Cup following Wales' failure to qualify for the tournament.

But the 24-year-old defender expressed his delight that Spurs team-mate Christian Eriksen will be in Russia next summer. Eriksen scored a hat-trick on Tuesday night as Denmark beat the Republic of Ireland 5-1 in a World Cup play-off.

"Chris is phenomenal for us, he dictates the play and gets us going," Davies added.

"For me it is no surprise to see him scoring. He's a player who deserves to be at a World Cup."
