Mauricio Pochettino says winning mattered more than Tottenham performance against Watford

Mauricio Pochettino admits he was more satisfied with Tottenham's result than their performance as they moved to within sight of the Champions League.
Goals from Dele Alli and Harry Kane either side of half-time gave them a 2-0 victory against Watford which leaves them five points clear of fifth-placed Chelsea with three games to play.
While a top-four place is the primary objective, Tottenham could even move up to third if they win their game in hand over Liverpool.
Regardless of what their final position might be, they now look to be odds-on to return to European football's leading club event again next term.
Pochettino said: "I think it's a good night for us because the opportunity was to take the three points - three points that allow us to be in a good position in the table.
"It was a must-win game, it was so important for us. Maybe we didn't play the way we wanted to play and our performance wasn't right but most important was the three points.
"In the whole season, in 10 months of competition, it is difficult to keep playing good football. We tried but I think Watford was a very difficult opponent.
"They were free to play with no pressure because I think they are safe and they tried to play with freedom.
"There was massive pressure on us to take the three points. I am very happy because the three points now put us in a very good position.
"We are in a very good situation. To finish in the top four - for the third time in a row - would be massive for the club."
Alli's early goal after a mistake from away goalkeeper Orestis Karnezis put Tottenham in control but Watford could easily have levelled before the break.
Hugo Lloris made good saves from Andre Gray, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Richarlison - with Pochettino recognising his contribution to the win.
He added: "Watford played well, they created some chances - great chances - and I think Hugo Lloris was fantastic.
"He didn't have a lot of situations to deal with but there were a few which showed why he is one of the best goalkeepers in the world. There is no doubt about that."
Kane's clinching goal allowed him to close in on Mohamed Salah as the two vie for the Golden Boot, albeit the Liverpool forward remains the clear favourite to end as the league's top scorer.
Nevertheless, Pochettino was clear in his praise for the England forward who, while taking his goal well, still looked a little short of sharpness.
"That's 150 Premier League games and 105 goals," the Tottenham manager said. "I can't say more than that - the numbers talk for him."
