Allback admits liking for Villa

Villa's European scout Bryan King stated on Thursday that Villa were favourites to sign Allback and now the player has confirmed it.

"It's [Aston Villa] a good club in the upper half of the Premier League," said the 28-year-old.

"Surely, they would be a good option, that I must confess."

Allback is also wanted by Sunderland, Southampton, Tottenham and Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord.

However, it seems that Villa have seemingly jumped to the head of the queue and in prime position to land the Heerenveen star.

Allback will have been made well aware of Villa, by international colleague Olof Mellberg, who has made a massive impact at Villa Park since his move last summer from Racing Santander.

The Swedish striker exlcusively told planetfootball.com earlier this season that he wanted to have his future resolved as soon as possible.

"I want my future settled with a new club as soon as possible, so we know where I am heading," said Allback.
