Spurs seal Zokora signing
Tottenham have completed the signing of Ivory Coast international Didier Zokora.
Tottenham Hotspur have completed the anticipated signing of Ivory Coast international Didier Zokora.
The midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to White Hart Lane of late and claimed last weekend that he had agreed personal terms.
Spurs admitted they were in advanced negotiations with St Etienne, as well as Zokora, and have now announced his capture.
The fee for the 25-year-old has not been disclosed, but it is understood St Etienne were looking for £8 million for the powerful midfielder.
Having impressed for The Elephants at the World Cup, Zokora's arrival in North London was greeted with delight by Spurs boss Martin Jol.
"Didier was regarded by a lot of people as one of the best midfield players going into the World Cup and he proved that in the group stage," Jol told the club's official website.
"A lot of clubs were after him, we had to compete for his services and he is a very good signing."
Zokora, who had also been linked with Spurs' Premiership rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, expressed his joy at clinching a move to England.
"I am very proud to come here and I think it is a great club," said Zokora.
"I am extremely happy because I think there are a lot of really good players here and I am glad to be joining them.
"The core of the team is very young and we can build for the long term. This is something which really attracted me to the club."
