Spurs schemer has silverware in his sights

Luka Modric has told skysports.com Tottenham have FA Cup glory in their sights this season. The North London outfit tackle Fulham at White Hart Lane in their quarter-final replay on Wednesday night after a 0-0 draw in their first meeting at Craven Cottage. A Wembley semi-final showdown with crisis club Portsmouth awaits for the victors, with Chelsea and Aston Villa clashing in the other last-four meeting. And Croatia international Modric is confident Harry Redknapp's side have the quality in their squad to overcome both the Cottagers and Pompey to secure a place in May's showpiece final. The talented schemer told skysports.com: "We are very confident, especially because we are playing at home against Fulham. "We are a better team than Fulham, but we have to show that on the pitch. "I hope we can win and go into the semi-final against Portsmouth. Our road is open to go to the final, but it will not be easy. "I believe in us and our quality and I believe we can beat Fulham and go to Wembley." With the semi-finals of the competition being staged at the iconic Wembley stadium, there is an added incentive for the 24-year-old midfielder and his team-mates to overcome their London rivals. The former Dinamo Zagreb ace added: "Wembley is a great motivation for all players. It is the best stadium in the world and it is an unbelievable feeling playing there. "Every player wants to come there and play, especially when you are fighting for trophies." Spurs are also chasing a fourth place finish in the Premier League and currently hold the coveted final UEFA Champions League berth ahead of rivals Manchester City, Liverpool and Aston Villa. Despite the added pressure of chasing success on two fronts, and with a number of key players on the treatment table, gifted midfielder Modric feels that achieving both goals remains a realistic prospect. He said: "I don't see any reason why we couldn't do that. "We have some injuries to important players, but I hope they will soon be back and I think we can cope with the challenges of playing in the FA Cup and Premier League. "It will not be easy but I think we can handle that." Luka Modric is supporting the Nike (RED) Lace Up, Save Lives campaign to help fight HIV/AIDS in Africa.
