McLeish joins race for unsettled Spurs star

Birmingham are in talks with Tottenham to sign David Bentley, skysports.com understands. The Blues are already trying to sign Spurs forward Robbie Keane and now they are hoping to land his White Hart Lane team-mate Bentley. Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has admitted he is ready to let Bentley move on as he is frustrated with his situation in North London. Bentley is being tracked by a host of clubs in the Premier League with the midfielder keen on a move away in search of first-team football. The likes of Blackburn, Fulham and Newcastle have been credited with an interest in Bentley, but it appears Birmingham are leading the race for the England international. Blues boss Alex McLeish is keen to bolster his squad in this month's transfer window and he is thought to be a long-term admirer of Bentley. Bentley is now thought to be weighing up his options as he looks to get his career back on track after a difficult last 12 months at Tottenham.
