Harry Redknapp has admitted he is a fan of Ajax striker Luis Suarez, but no offer has been made.

Spurs boss doesn't see a move for striker materialising however

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has admitted he is a fan of Ajax striker Luis Suarez, but no offer has been made. The Uruguay international has been a sensation in Dutch football since moving to Groningen in 2006 and the Amsterdam club a year later, scoring 110 goals in 154 appearances. The 23-year-old has been linked with Manchester United and Liverpool in the past, but it appears that Ajax are holding out for a big fee to prise their captain away from the Amsterdam Arena. Suarez gained infamy at last summer's World Cup, where he deliberately handballed on the line in the final minute of extra time against Ghana in the quarter finals to prevent a certain goal. He was dismissed and conceded a penalty, but Asamoah Gyan missed and Uruguay went on to win on penalties.

Versatile

The versatile forward's stock rose during the tournament however, scoring three goals and impressing in his strike partnership with Golden Ball winner Diego Forlan. "He's a good player but we haven't made any offer for him," said Redknapp, who is still focused on bringing David Beckham to White Hart Lane this January. "I would doubt very much that anything will happen there. I've watched him loads of times; he's not an out-and-out striker but he could play anywhere."
