Ex-England captain returning to the States
David Beckham will say farewell to Tottenham on Monday evening after his training stint with the club.
The LA Galaxy star has spent the last six weeks training with the Premier League club to stay fit during the MLS off-season.
The former England captain, 35, must now return to his club to prepare for the new campaign and was saying his goodbyes to the Tottenham squad and staff on his final day at Spurs' training ground.
Beckham will return to the United States with a glowing commendation from Spurs boss Harry Redknapp, who is keen to sign the ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder when his Galaxy contract ends this winter.
Top-class
"We have enjoyed having him here," Redknapp said. "You couldn't meet a nicer man. He's an absolute top-class person.
"He has been absolutely superb as a role model for any young footballer.
"He signs all the autographs when people wait outside in the cold for him and that's what matters.
"It's just as important being a good person as it is being a good footballer and we have been delighted to have him here."
After taking part in his final training session, Beckham said: "I have had a great time at Spurs and would like to thank Harry, his staff and all the players for making me feel so welcome over the past six weeks.
"I wish the club well for the rest of the season."
