Winger desperate to help Blues avoid the drop
Loan star David Bentley admits time will tell whether the temporary switch to Birmingham has proved successful for his long term career.
Bentley is loving life back in the fast lane of regular Premier League football after falling out of favour at parent club Tottenham.
The 26-year-old, who has three years left on his Spurs contract, faces an uncertain future but remains focused on his immediate concern of keeping Birmingham in the top flight.
And he insists he holds no ill feelings towards Harry Redknapp after being shipped out to St Andrews.
Instead the midfielder aims to impress the Spurs boss by rediscovering the form which saw him tipped as David Beckham's natural successor in the England team.
Decisions
Bentley told the Daily Mirror: "It was a difficult time at Spurs and I picked up a couple of injuries in pre-season.
"There is an abundance of talent there so it was hard to get into the team and the squad.
"Sometimes when you fall down the pecking order it is hard to get back up.
"I don't hold a grudge. There are so many decent players in the squad there who want to play.
"It has been a difficult career with some ups and downs and some wrong decisions and some right decisions.
"Hopefully this is another right decision coming here which is going to kick me on in the next five or six years to have a successful career."
Care
Bentley has tasted relegation from the Premier League before - when he was part of the Norwich side which went down in 2004-05.
And he is determined not to experience that sinking feeling with Birmingham this season.
He said: "When you go out on loan you get to know the people you're involved with and care for them. You don't want things like relegation to happen.
"Norwich was really good until that last day of the season when we got relegated."
