Croatian blasts 'arrogant' Levy after being denied Spurs exit

Wantaway midfielder Luka Modric insists he will hand in a transfer request if Tottenham continue to block a potential move away from the club. The Croatia international's future remains uncertain after he claimed on Sunday that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy had threatened to leave him sitting in the stands if he pushed for a White Hart Lane exit. Modric made it clear last month he desires a move away from the North London club this summer, naming Chelsea as his preferred destination. However, Spurs rebuffed a £22million bid for the midfielder from their Premier League rivals and Levy has since made it clear the 25-year-old will not leave the club at any price.

Agreement

The club have also reportedly denied Modric's claim that a gentleman's agreement was struck between himself and Levy when he signed a six-year contract extension last year that he would be allowed to leave if a major club came knocking. Despite the chairman's insistence, Modric has revealed he will force a move away if it comes down to it, and has reiterated his displeasure at how he has been treated by Levy. He was quoted as saying in The Sun: "If I have to, I will hand in a transfer request. "I'm extremely disappointed by the way Levy talked to me. I had a cold welcome to his office and he talked to me arrogantly. He arrogantly let me know that he doesn't even want to know what I have to say. "I don't know what are the reasons for his behaviour but it's his problem." Levy claimed after holding talks with Modric last week that he was 'understanding' of Spurs' position, but the midfielder insists that is not the case. He added in the Daily Mail: "Much of what has been printed about my meeting with Mr Levy is incorrect. Mr Levy, realising the importance of our meeting, twisted my words. I now have the right to tell my side of the story." Modric feels Tottenham should repay him for his service to the club and let him follow his dream of playing for an elite side. He added: "I have been a loyal sportsman. I played when injured and sick. "I came back only a few days after operations. I did it as a professional but also as a man who wants to make his contribution to Spurs.
Ambition
"Now the time has come to go my own way and I ask them to understand my situation. "I told him I want to go and the reason is my ambition to play for a club which is challenging for the English title and the European championship. "I will be 26 soon and I'm convinced it is right for me to take my chance in my career."
