MLS outfit refuse to confirm move for striker

Major League Soccer side Los Angeles Galaxy have declined to confirm they are targeting a move for Tottenham's Robbie Keane. Keane, 31, revealed earlier this week that he expects to leave Spurs before the transfer window closes at the end of this month. Widespread reports have claimed the Galaxy want to bring Keane to MLS, where he could team up with former England captain David Beckham. The Republic of Ireland's all-time record goalscorer began his career with Wolves and has also had spells with Coventry, Inter Milan Leeds, Liverpool and loans with Celtic and West Ham. The likes of Blackburn and Bolton along with Leicester are all said to be interested, although Galaxy were believed to be leading the chase after opening talks, but the club are keeping their cards close to their chest. "We are always looking to improve our squad and have contacted or been contacted by a host of players during the current transfer window," said a club spokesman when questioned on the Keane link. "As soon as we have something confirmed in regards to any potential player acquisitions we will be sure to alert everyone."
